Terms of service

The terms that apply when you engage The Long Way for work or buy a subscription.

Last updated: 2026-04-27

These terms apply to all services provided by The Long Way (a Finnish sole-trader business operated by Douglas Locklin).

Scope

The work scope, deliverables, and timeline for any project are agreed in writing before work begins. Anything outside the agreed scope is billed at the published hourly rate or quoted separately.

Payments

One-time fees are invoiced when the work is delivered or in agreed milestones. Subscription tiers are billed monthly in advance via Stripe; you can cancel from the customer portal at any time, and access continues to the end of the current billing period.

Ownership

You own the source code, the content, and the rights to everything we deliver, with the exception of pre-existing libraries (each retains its original open-source licence). We retain the right to feature the work in our portfolio and case studies unless you specifically ask us not to.

Liability

Our liability is limited to the fees you have paid us for the project in question. We will not be liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Finnish law. Any dispute is settled in the District Court of Western Finland.
